Three Sunset art teacher will be receiving the 'Golden Apple Award'. These awards are given to teachers who students receive the most Gold Key art awards at the National level. Our teachers will be receiving a gift from Ovation TV and a reception in their honor at the PNCA. Congrats to Cathy Cain, Mary Cherveny, and Anne Goodrich!

The Medical Teams International Dental Van will be at Sunset High School on Monday January 25th. The dental van serves uninsured students with immediate dental needs ( pain, cavities, etc.) but does not provide routine cleaning.
If you have a student who needs to be seen on the dental van please email School Nurse Kim Bartholomew (kimberly_bartholomew@beavton.k12.or.us) as soon as possible to reserve an appointment.
The Oregon Department of Education has given Sunset High School an Outstanding rating.
Once again, Sunset's art students have peformed well at the annual Portland Metro Scholastic Art Competition hosted by the Pacific Northwest College of Art. Senior Charlie Barber earned the prestigious American Vision Award for photography. In addition, 30 students received Gold Keys, 24 students received Silver Keys, and another 67 students received Honorable Mention. A reception to honor all students is scheduled for Thursday, January 14th from 6:00 pm to 8:00 pm at the Pacific Northwest College of Art.

District Seeks Parent and Community Members To Serve On K-12 Grading and Reporting Project Team
The Beaverton School District is seeking eight parents and two additional community members to serve on the K-12 Grading and Reporting Project Team. The Project Team will be composed of teachers, parents, administrators, students and community members. The committee will meet at least once per month beginning in February 2010 and will conclude December 2010.
The ACT that was scheduled for last Saturday, December 12th has been rescheduled for this Saturday, December 19th.
