A Challenging Educational Community Promoting Life-long Learning, Social Responsibility, and Respect for Diversity
This week is Volunteer Appreciation Week. Nearly a 1000 volunteers have contributed their time and talent to the service of Sunset students this year. Without their support, we would not be able to offer a fraction of the opportunities currently available to students. Please join us in celebrating the incredible work of the Sunset volunteers. If you've been considering volunteering yourself, please check out the Booster and Volunteer's web page. Principal McKee's letter to the volunteers is here.

The 2010-2011 academic calendar is ready!
'Tis the season for the ACT. Juniors, sophomores, and freshmen will be taking the ACT, PLAN, and EXPLORE tests, respectively, on April 28. Juniors will register for the ACT during Advisory on April 21. Sophomores and Freshmen register for their exams on the morning of April 28 (exam day.) A few things to keep in mind:
- Students will be released at 1:00 (busses will leave at 1.)
- All exams start at 7:45. Students with Late Arrival will need to be at school by 7:45.
- Students need to bring the following:
- Student ID
- #2 Pencils
- Calculator (check ACT's website for approved models)
- A snack (to be kept in a backpack - until the break)
- A book to read (before the exam begins.)
- Cell phones, music players, gaming devices are not to be used during the exam, even during the breaks! Students should leave these at home. Use of an electronic device at any time during the exam (including the breaks) will result in the student's test being disqualified.
- Freshmen and sophomore exams begin with a 55 minute Apollo Time. Students are encouraged to bring a book to read or homework to complete.
- Special Education busses will be running their regular routes at their regular times.
- SENIORS: All seniors need to complete an Activity Request Form to be excused for the day. Seniors that do not complete the form will be considered absent and unexcused. The form can be downloaded below.
A letter about the ACT testing day is being sent to all families. An electronic copy of the letter and the Senior Activity Request Form are available below for download.
If you have questions about the ACT, please email Drew Cronk.
