Sunset High School visual arts student, Alejandra Dominguez, has been awarded the Beaverton Arts Commission award for outstanding achievement. Alejandra, nominated by Cathy Cain of Sunset High School, is a visual artist enrolled in the two-year International Baccalaureate Art program offered at Sunset. Alejandra has received Scholastic Art & Writing Regional GOLD Key Awards for four years of her high school career. Ms. Cain states, "Driven by social responsibility, passion, and diligence, Alejandra has tried to give voice to Latino immigrants by creating pieces within the traditional Latin social art of the common man." The prize comes with a $1000 scholarship. Well done, Alejandra!
