Attention Seniors!!  Please review this final Senior Graduation List (click on this link) and check to see if your name is on the list and that it is spelled correctly! This list represents how your name will appear on your diploma unless we hear back from you.  If any change is needed, please contact Dr. Gupta in the front office or Ms. Kurschner in the counseling office.  Students should let Dr. Gupta or a counselor know if they will not walk in the ceremony.  Also, please note that the deadline for completing the on-line survey is May 14!

APRIL 27  - SENIOR ASSEMBLY and SENIOR CLASS PICTURE

The Senior Assembly will be held in the Gymnasium at 1:00 p.m. during Access Tutorial, followed by a Senior Class Picture. If you would like to purchase a photo send the enclosed Dorian photo envelope with your student or mail to: 4212 W Sunset Blvd. Spokane, WA 99224. At the Senior Assembly students will receive information about the Senior Awards Night, the Senior Breakfast, graduation practice, graduation, and the Grad Party. Grad Party tickets will be on sale and waivers will be available for pick up. Attendance is strongly encouraged.

MAY 14-18 - GRADUATION TICKETS AVAILABLE 

An admission ticket is required for seating in the Chiles Center where the ceremony will be held. Each senior may pick up eight tickets during the week of May 14-18. Tickets will be available on May 14 and May 15 near the lower commons during lunches, and Wednesday through Friday in the Main Office. A sign-up sheet will be available for a limited number of extra tickets. If you do not need all eight tickets, please let us know when you pick them up or return the extra ticket(s) to the Main Office as soon as possible. School fines and fees must be paid prior to receiving tickets. Grad Party is raffling off tickets for ten prime seats with a parking space at $10.00 each.

ONLINE SENIOR SURVEY – SUBMIT BY MAY 21
 
Please click here to take the Senior Survey.  The username is the senior's student ID and the password is the senior's birthday with no leading zeros (e.g. January 7, 1998 = 171998).  If you would like your awards, honors, and scholarships included in the commencement booklet, you must fill out the survey by May 21. Please let us know about your accomplishments!
 
JUNE 4 & 5 • SENIOR FINAL EXAMS
 
Seniors will take finals during regularly scheduled classes.
 
JUNE 6, 8:00 A.M. • SENIOR BREAKFAST • CAFETERIA
 
Sunset hosts a breakfast for graduating seniors on June 6th, their last day at Sunset. The breakfast will be hosted in the commons area beginning at 8:00 a.m. and will be followed by the graduation practice in the gym. Students should dress nicely for this event.
 
JUNE 6, 9:00 A.M. • GRADUATION PRACTICE • GYM
 
Seniors who plan to attend the graduation ceremony are required to attend the graduation practice. We will review the seating arrangement and practice the processional and recessional so that everyone knows what is expected. Seniors will also be able to order their final transcripts for college. Graduation practice will last about 90 minutes.
 
JUNE 6, 10:30 A.M. SENIOR SLIDE SHOW• AUDITORIUM
 
JUNE 7, 7:00 P.M. • SENIOR AWARDS NIGHT • AUDITORIUM
 
Seniors, parents and faculty will recognize seniors receiving local or school honors, scholarships or other awards during this night of recognition. All seniors and their families are invited to attend.

Doors to the Chiles Center open at 6:30 p.m. seniors need to arrive in the robing area behind the main arena by 6:45 p.m. The robing area is restricted to Sunset students and staff members. Seniors should enter the robing area through the doors nearest to Portsmouth Boulevard.

JUNE 13, 10:00 P.M. - 5:30 A.M. • GRAD PARTY
 
Grad Party website -- https://sunsetapollosgradparty.wordpress.com This celebration, sponsored by senior parents, is a safe, drug and alcohol-free party. The party will be held at an offsite venue. All graduates who purchase tickets will board buses at the Chiles Center following Graduation. Students will be bused back to Sunset following the party and arrive at 5:30 a.m. Students must ride the bus to attend the party. If you want to avoid picking your student up at Sunset at 5:30 a.m., please arrange to leave a vehicle in the Sunset parking lot prior to the Graduation Ceremony. Cars should not be left at the Chiles Center.
 
GRAD PARTY TICKETS
 
Invitations will be mailed to all seniors in mid-April. The cost to students is $50 if purchased by May 20th. Ticket prices go up on May 21st to $65. The cost covers transportation, unlimited food, and activities at the venue. If ticket price is a hardship, please see your counselor prior to June 1st. A signed Waiver and Code of Conduct are also required to attend.
 
Tickets will be on sale before and after the Senior Assembly on April 27th, during lunches on May 15th and 16th, and at the Senior Breakfast on June 6th. Tickets may also be purchased, by mailing a check, the return envelope, and a signed Waiver and Code of Conduct to Sunset Grad Party Committee, 13840 NW Cornell Road, Portland, OR, 97229. The last day to purchase tickets in person or by mail is June 6th.

General Information - Important Dates
 
CAP AND GOWN DISTRIBUTION – APRIL 27
 
Jostens will distribute graduation items that you have ordered. Please visit Sunset's Community Room during lunches to pick up these items. If you have not ordered your cap and gown, please contact Dr. Rosy Gupta.
 
SENIOR SLIDE SHOW – SUBMIT PHOTOS BY MAY 4
 
After the graduation practice, seniors will go to the auditorium for a slide show sponsored by the ASB leadership class. If seniors are interested in having a picture in the slide show, they must submit a photo. A hard copy of a photo may be submitted to the Main Office or an electronic copy may be sent to shsseniorslideshow@gmail.com. The leadership class is accepting all kinds of pictures of Sunset seniors for the slide show, from baby pictures to prom pictures and everything in between (as long as it is appropriate for school). Hard copies will not be returned.
 
PROM – May 5
 
Prom will be held at the Tiffany Center, 1410 SW Morrison Street, from 8:00 p.m. to 11:00 p.m. Parking lot located @ The Morrison Plaza ~ 1411 SW Morrison -(enter on 14th - 1/2 block North from the Tiffany Center)
 
 
SPELLING OF NAME ON DIPLOMA – SUBMIT CORECTIONS BY MAY 14
 
Please click here to verify the spelling of your name on your diploma. You can also check the list posted on the wall outside the Counseling Office.
 
EXTRA GRADUATION TICKETS AVAILABLE – MAY 21
 
If you requested additional admission tickets for seating at the Chiles Center, please stop by the Main Office starting May 21st. A limited number of extra tickets will be distributed.
 
GRAD PARTY “APOLLOGRAMS” – SUBMIT BY June 1 (See Downloads/Links above for the ApolloGram form.)
 
Apollograms are a no-cost way to send congratulatory messages, a remembrance, funny stories, good wishes, or expressions of love to this year’s seniors! Parents, students, family and friends can all send Apollograms to 2012 seniors. Blank forms are available in the Main Office, College and Career Center, Counseling Office, or you can download a form from the Grad Party website at https://sunsetapollosgradparty.wordpress.com. Apollograms will be distributed during the Grad Party. Arrangements will be made for distribution if your senior is not attending the party. GRAD PARTY VOLUNTEERS
 
We need your help! Parents – you can help your senior celebrate his or her graduation by volunteering at the Grad Party. We need to have at least 20 parents help students get checked in and onto the buses at the Chiles Center following Graduation. Another 30 volunteers are also needed to help at the party to run activities, act as chaperones, and keep things running smoothly. The Grad Party Committee will meet on Tuesday, May 1st and Tuesday, June 5th from 7:00 – 8:00 pm in the Sunset Community Room. Join us for a meeting or contact Debbi Nadell, debbinadell@gmail.com, to volunteer for the Grad Party and ensure a fun and safe night for our seniors.
 
PROFESSIONAL PHOTOS AND VIDEO OF THE GRADUATION CEREMONY
 
A professional photographer and videographer will be employed at graduation. You may register for professional photos at www.gradimages.com.
 
FINES AND FEES
 
All fines and fees must be paid in order to receive your diploma, transcript, and/or final semester grades. Notices are included with this letter, if there are any, but there may be additional fines and fees if a student fails to return any books, P.E. locks, or other materials at the end of the fourth quarter.
 
GRADUATION CEREMONY SEATING
 
Seniors will be seated in alphabetical order for the ceremony with the exception of IB Diploma candidates and Madrigals. For parents, seating at the Chiles Center is on a first-come, first-serve basis. There will be some limited, reserved seating for those in wheelchairs or with similar needs. There will be ten reserved seats for the winner of the VIP Graduation Raffle Package. Seating begins at 6:30 p.m. and the ceremony begins at 7:30 p.m. Parking is available on the University of Portland campus near the Chiles Center.
 
APPROPRIATE DRESS FOR SENIORS AT GRADUATION CEREMONY
 
We expect our graduating seniors to dress in attire that matches the significance of this event. Female students are encouraged to wear a skirt, dress, or dress slacks. Male students are encouraged to wear slacks, dress shirt, and tie. Caps and gowns need to be worn as issued. Messages or alterations to the caps are not allowed.
 

 
GRADUATION CEREMONY MISCELLANEOUS
 
Seniors should not bring coats, purses, cell phones, iPods, or other valuables with them to the robing area.  It is not a secure area.
 
Diplomas will be mailed to your home in late June.  Each senior must have earned all required credits and have no outstanding fees or fines to be eligible to receive his/her diploma.
