• MAY 17-21 GRADUATION TICKETS AVAILABLE
An admission ticket will be required for seating in the Chiles Center where the ceremony will be held. Each senior may pick up eight tickets during the week of May 17-21. Tickets will be available on May 17 and 18 near the lower commons during lunches, and Wednesday through Friday in the Main Office. A sign-up sheet will be available for a limited number of extra tickets. If you do not need all eight tickets, please let us know when you pick them up or return the extra ticket(s) to the Main Office as soon as possible. School fines must be paid prior to receiving tickets. If someone in your family uses a wheelchair or has difficulty negotiating stairs, please let us know when you pick up your tickets. 
 
• JUNE 3, 7:00 P.M. • SENIOR AWARDS NIGHT • AUDITORIUM
Seniors, parents and faculty will recognize seniors receiving local or school honors, scholarships or other awards during this night of recognition. All seniors are invited to attend.
 
• JUNE 7, 1:00 P.M. • GRADUATION PRACTICE • APOLLO TIME • GYM
Seniors who plan to attend the graduation ceremony are required to attend the graduation practice during Apollo Time. We will review the seating arrangement and practice the processional and recessional so that everyone knows what is expected. Seniors will also be able to order their final transcripts for college. Graduation practice will last about one and a half hours.
 
• JUNE 8 & 9 • SENIOR FINAL EXAMS
Seniors will take finals in every class. Check with teachers for requirements.
 
• JUNE 10, 8:00 A.M. • SENIOR BREAKFAST • CAFETERIA
Sunset hosts a breakfast for graduating seniors on June 10, their last day at Sunset. The breakfast will be hosted in the commons area beginning at 8:00 a.m. and will be followed by the Senior Slide Show in the auditorium. Students should dress nicely for this event.
 
• JUNE 10, 7:30 P.M. COMMENCEMENT • CHILES CENTER • UNIVERSITY OF PORTLAND
Doors to the Chiles Center open at 6:30 p.m. Seniors need to line up in the robing area behind the main arena by 6:45 p.m.   The robing area is restricted to Sunset students and staff members.
 
• JUNE 10, 10:30 P.M. - 4:00 A.M. • GRAD PARTY
This celebration, sponsored by senior parents, is a safe, drug and alcohol-free party.  It begins at 10:30 p.m. after the commencement ceremony. All graduating seniors are invited and must arrive by 11:15 p.m. Invitations will be mailed to seniors and should arrive in early April.  The cost to students is $50 if purchased through Wednesday, May 19.  Tickets will be on sale during lunches on May 17, 18, 19, and by mail if postmarked by May 19.  Ticket prices increase to $60 on May 20 and $75 on June 10th.  The cost covers abundant food and many activities.  If ticket price is a hardship, please see your counselor prior to May 27th.  Permission form and Waiver of Responsibility will be mailed with invitations and is also available on Sunset's website under the Graduation 2010 link. 



General Information
 
• EXTRA GRADUATION TICKETS AVAILABLE  – MAY 24
If you requested additional admission tickets for seating at the Chiles Center, please stop by the Main Office starting May 24th.  A limited number of extra tickets will be distributed. 
 
• GRAD PARTY ”APOLLOGRAMS” – SUBMIT BY JUNE 4
Apollograms are a no-cost way to send congratulatory messages, a remembrance, funny stories, good wishes, or expressions of love to this year's seniors!  Blank forms are available in the Main Office, College & Career Center, Counseling Office, or you can download a form from the Sunset website.  Apollograms will be distributed at the Grad Party.  Send messages to your fellow graduates and don't forget to pick yours up at the Grad Party! 
 
• GRAD PARTY VOLUNTEERS
We need your help!  Parents - you can help us celebrate your child’s graduation in this safe and fun manner by volunteering. We would appreciate your help with decorating or with events on the night of the party.  To volunteer, contact (TBD).
 
• PROFESSIONAL PHOTOS AND VIDEO OF THE GRADUATION CEREMONY
A professional photographer and videographer will be employed at graduation.  You may register for professional photos at www.bobknightphoto.com/register.  To register for a professional video that will include the Senior Slide Show, please refer to Cade Productions and sign up.

 
• FINES AND FEES
All fines and fees must be paid in order to receive your diploma, transcript, and/or final semester grades.  Notices are included with this letter, if there are any, but there may be additional fines and fees if a student fails to return any books, P.E. locks, or other materials at the end of the fourth quarter.
 
• GRADUATION CEREMONY SEATING
Seniors will be seated in alphabetical order for the ceremony with the exception of IB Diploma candidates and Madrigals.  For parents, seating at the Chiles Center is on a first-come, first-serve basis.  There will be some limited, reserved seating for those in wheelchairs or with similar needs.  Seating begins at 6:30 p.m. and the ceremony begins at 7:30 p.m.  Parking is available on the University of Portland campus near the Chiles Center.
 
• APPROPRIATE DRESS FOR SENIORS AT GRADUATION CEREMONY
We expect our graduating seniors to dress in attire that matches the significance of this event.  Female students are encouraged to wear a skirt, dress, or dress slacks.  Male students are encouraged to wear slacks, dress shirt, and tie.  Caps and gowns need to be worn as issued.  Messages or alterations to the caps are not allowed.
 
 
GRADUATION CEREMONY MISCELLANEOUS
·  Seniors should not bring coats, purses, cell phones, iPods, or other valuables with them to the robing area.  It is not a secure area.
·  All seniors must be at the Chiles Center no later than 6:45 p.m. on June 10th.
·  Parent and family seating will be available at 6:30 p.m.
·  As each senior is presented to the audience, he/she will receive a medallion and diploma cover.
·  Diplomas will be mailed to your home in late June.  Each senior must have earned all required credits and have no outstanding fees or fines to be eligible to receive his/her diploma.
·  National Honor Society members will be wearing a gold honor cord.
·  The following students will receive honor cords, hoods, or medallions at the Senior Awards Night:
oInternational Baccalaureate Diploma candidates will be wearing an IB hood.
oNational Merit Finalists will be wearing a purple honor cord.
oThe Valedictorian and Salutatorians will be wearing a Valedictorian or Salutatorian Medallion
oApollo Award Recipients will also be wearing an Apollo Award Medallion
